Solana Gets More Secure
Digital wallet Solflare launched the long-awaited Ledger X and Solflare Mobile integration.
The team announced the app’s new feature on May 4 via Twitter. It bridges Solana’s vibrant ecosystem of Decentralized Applications (dApps) with the security of having one’s private keys stored on a hardware wallet. Nate Strang, Head of Product at Solflare, explained on Medium that the integration was challenging but a much-needed feature:
“When it comes to our two driving product principles—enhancing security and utility for our users—it’s hard to find a feature that ranks higher than mobile ledger support. When we started working on Ledger back in November, we knew it would require a daunting amount of engineering. But because this is so important to our users and the entire Solana community, we prioritized it and put in some long days and nights to get it done.”
The consensus in crypto is that hardware wallets are not only a nice luxury but almost necessary. Unfortunately, phishing scams, rug pulls, and protocol hacks keep happening across the industry as developers find new ways to combat them. Hopefully, as crypto keeps maturing and users get better tools and education, these events will come less frequently. Keeping our private keys offline and secured is the first step we should take in this direction.

What is Solflare:
Soflare is a community build wallet designed specifically for Solana. It enables users to send and receive Solana Program Library (SPL) tokens, the ERC-20 equivalent on Solana. Additionally, Solfare can also be used to stake SOL tokens, store Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), and interact with Solana-based Decentralized Applications (dApps).
